Product Care & Safety
Thank you for choosing S.I.T! Our ceramic vessels are designed not only to elevate your space but also to serve as a functional and beautiful planter or decor piece after your candle has finished burning. Follow the steps below to ensure you can enjoy your vessel long after your candle has burned out.
Using Your S.I.T Candle
- Burn Time: For optimal use, burn your S.I.T candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This will help preserve the vessel and prevent overheating.
- Safe Burning: Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, children, and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Trimming the Wick: Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch before each burn to minimize soot and prevent excessive heat buildup, which could damage the vessel.
- Extinguishing the Flame: Always extinguish the candle using a snuffer to prevent splattering of hot wax. Do not blow out the flame or move the candle while the wax is still liquid.
Cleaning the Vessel After Candle Use
Once your candle has fully burned, you can clean out the vessel and repurpose it. Follow these instructions carefully to avoid damage to the vessel and ensure your safety:
Allow Wax to Cool: Before starting the cleaning process, ensure the vessel and remaining wax have fully cooled. Never attempt to clean out hot or warm wax.
Freeze the Vessel:
Place the vessel in the freezer for a few hours. Once frozen, the wax should shrink slightly and become easier to remove.- Gently tap the bottom of the vessel to loosen the remaining wax, then use a wooden or plastic utensil to remove it. Avoid using sharp objects, which can scratch or damage the vessel.
Cleaning Residual Wax:
- If any wax remains, pour hot (but not boiling) water into the vessel to soften it. Let it sit for a few minutes until the wax rises to the surface. Once cool, remove the floating wax.
- Caution: Do not pour waxy water down the drain, as this may clog pipes. Dispose of wax in the trash.
- Hand-wash the vessel with warm water and mild soap. Use a soft sponge to avoid scratching the surface.
- Caution: The vessel is not dishwasher safe. Using a dishwasher may cause cracks or damage.
Repurposing Your S.I.T Vessel
Your S.I.T vessel is perfect for repurposing once the candle is finished. Here are a few ways you can give your vessel new life:
- Planter: Add a layer of pebbles for drainage, followed by soil, and plant your favorite seeds. If using seeds provided with your S.I.T candle, follow the care instructions provided.
- Storage: Use the vessel to hold small items such as jewelry, keys, or office supplies.
- Home Decor: Simply place it as a decorative piece in your living space.
